ROASTED CRANBERRY-APPLE RELISH

This make-ahead dish is both easy and delicious. You'll never go back to canned cranberry sauce again!


2 cups fresh cranberries
2 cups Granny Smith apples, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup Sucanat
1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper melange with whole allspice

Preheat oven to 350. Combine all ingredients in a bowl, coating fruit thoroughly. Pour mixture into a rimmed 13x9 baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes. Refrigerate overnight in a covered dish. Serve chilled.

You can also add 1/2 cup of pecans, walnuts or sliced almonds for a bit of crunch.
